I went to other schools in the area and did not progress as quickly as I did with Fation. I tried schools in Greece and in Montenegro. His business model is perfect for a beginner. He is able to spend several hours with a student and charges a very affordable price.
Fation is calm, patient, and clear in his instruction. He gives honest advice about the conditions, adapts to different skill levels, and creates a safe, confidence-building environment for learning. His local knowledge of the Rinia beach area is invaluable, especially for understanding the wind, weather, launch spots, and anything else that affects safety on the water.
The equipment was in very good condition, including the kites, boards, bars, and safety gear. The school is well organized, safety conscious, and focused on giving students personal attention rather than a rushed or crowded experience.
Kitesurfing Albania is also a small family-run operation, which makes the experience feel personal and genuine. Fation does much more than run lessons and rentals—he watches out for everyone on the beach, supports safe launching and landing, respects other beach users, and actively advocates for keeping the beach clean and safe.
If you use the beach at Rinia, you should thank him. Even better, support him by taking lessons or renting equipment from him. Highly recommended.

Already riding? You’re not stuck in the shallows
The lagoon is the classroom, not the ceiling. A few hundred metres along the beach the coast opens to the Adriatic, where the water gets choppy and the waves come in. Freeriders, wave riders and foilers all ride the same spot as our beginners; they just walk in a different direction.

Message us, tell us your level and your dates. We check the forecast and pick the spot (Durrës or Vlora) and tell you where to meet us (or drive with us).

Kite, bar, board, harness, safety gear: everything is at the spot. Bring swimwear and sunscreen.
Where we ride
Sektor Rinia in Durrës: our main home spot
Two spots in one. On the lagoon side the water sits around a metre deep over a long, calm stretch. That is where every beginner starts, and where freestylers get glassy water. A few hundred metres away the sea opens to the Adriatic with usually choppier water and small waves.

Summer here runs on thermal wind: it builds with the heat of the day, which makes the main season the most predictable time to book a lesson. Do note that thermal wind doesn’t show reliably in the wind forecast, it’s often more than it predicts.

Albania is one of Europe’s last kitesurf destinations that hasn’t been discovered yet: huge shallow lagoons, empty sandy beaches, wild lakes, untouched rivers, steady wind and hardly anyone on the water.
We spend the week chasing the best conditions on the coast: glassy lagoons, long beaches for cruising, and spots only locals know. Wherever the wind is best, that’s where we go.
Off the water, you get the rest of the country: local food, real hospitality, and places no tour bus stops at. We stay together in a comfortable apartment, which is how a week of kiting turns into a week with people you’ll ride with again.
Come alone or bring friends. Either way you’ll leave a better rider than you arrived.
